According to Nintendo, the North American stores will close at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET (which translates to 1:00 AM BST / 2:00 AM CET on Tuesday, March 28th in Europe; however, no specific closure time is given for European stores; we recommend going sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment).
It’s been almost a decade, but it’s finally happening: Nintendo is shutting down the Wii U and 3DS eShops, meaning that you will soon be unable to purchase digital titles for either system.
This shift occurs until March 27, 2023
This means you still have (barely) enough time to grab as many downloaded games as you can carry and go. With the termination of credit card payment support on May 23, 2022, and the end of Nintendo eShop card redemption on August 29, 2022, we want to ensure that you receive the games in a timely manner and do not have any issues due to insufficient funds.
We also have guidelines detailing which games you should buy in a hurry before they run out in 2020, like toilet paper. This is our list of the top 3DS eShop exclusives, along with some Wii U and DSiWare alternatives.
All you need to know about the 3DS and Wii U eShop shutdown is conveniently compiled here.
