In Tamil Nadu, engineering schools are getting ready to offer full-fledged training in 5G technology for both undergraduate and graduate students. This is a reaction to the fact that a few successful bidders will start offering 5G services in India in October 2022.
For handset makers to offer full 5G services, they need to update their software. This will take thousands of software professionals to build the technology.
A senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) told DT Next that 5G is a different technology and that the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) is working on a curriculum for the new courses to meet the needs of the industry.

A similar webinar will be set up to let people know about 5G classes and the setting up of use case labs.
The UG courses in 5G technology will include hands-on projects linked to the needs of industry, while the PG program will be more advanced and allow students to set up 5G networks using open-source tools already on the market. The courses will help India meet its growing need for 5G technology workers with the right skills.
