On Tuesday, HONOR showed off its Magic5 Pro smartphone behind the scenes.
It debuted at Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona.
“We are proud to showcase the technical facilities that drive our human-centric innovations,” said HONOR Device Co. Ltd. CEO George Zhao.“Our unwavering R&D commitment lets us create groundbreaking devices like the HONOR Magic5 Pro. We want to keep innovating for consumers.”
Falcon cameras
The device’s Millisecond Falcon Capture technology captures images quickly and clearly.
HONOR created its own camera laboratories for quantitative and qualitative study to inform its AI algorithm.
The HONOR Magic5 Pro elevates image by tackling several issues related to photographing moving situations with varied speed, distance, and lighting circumstances. Its autofocus speed is 245% faster than the previous version.
AI Motion Sensing lets users capture fast-moving moments. HONOR worked with Qualcomm to maximize computational power by fully utilizing the CPU, GPU, and NPU, increasing the cache interval by more than six times from 240 to 1500 milliseconds.
The HONOR Magic5 Pro camera can assist customers record their beautiful moment in motion with a bigger data cache interval and an AI network trained with over 270,000 photographs.
Eye-care innovation
The HONOR Magic5 Pro is the first smartphone with TÜV Rheinland Circadian Friendly Certification and Circadian Night Display. The Circadian Night Display’s sleep-easing mode modulates blue light and gradually changes nighttime color temperature. This function can boost melatonin secretion by 20% in three hours, helping users sleep better, according to HONOR’s lab tests.
“Controlling our exposure to blue light is increasingly important for sleep and general health, particularly with increasing amounts of screen time late in the day,” said Dr. Glen Jeffery, Professor of Neuroscience – Institute of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Brain Science at UCL. “HONOR’s circadian night display and dynamic dimming feature are important steps toward reducing screen disruption.”
Quality goods
HONOR spent $20 million on quality testing equipment at its Global Compliance and Testing Center (GCTC). The company can validate over 200 certification test standards, including CE certification, in-house.
For mobile communications testing, HONOR’s OTA Anechoic Chamber is completely controlled. OTA performance and SAR values usually conflict. HONOR’s GCTC ensures user safety while delivering best-in-class connection performance.
Thus, HONOR’s mass production SAR rating is 35% below compliance. The only device OEM with Qualcomm Smart-Transmit SAR certification, HONOR evaluates every batch of devices for SAR. It was Vodafone SAR-certified.
